Julie James is a doctoral candidate at Washington University in Saint Louis specializing in Italian Renaissance Art. She earned her B.A. in History and Classics in 2013 from the University of Delaware, and obtained her M.A. degree in 2017 from Syracuse University in Florence with her master’s thesis, entitled “Bedding Agostino Chigi: Sodoma’s The Marriage of Alexander and Roxanne in the Villa Farnesina.” Her dissertation focuses on the iconography of Sienese illustrious men in an attempt to better understand how the Sienese utilized and activated this particular genre both at home and throughout Italy.
