Jay recently received an Exploratory Research Grant from the Center for the History of Business, Technology, and Society for dissertation research at the Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, DE. His dissertation looks at the use of the bather trope by global contemporary LGBTQ+ artists, and at the Hagley he will examine patent prototypes for nineteenth-century innovations in domestic bathtubs and showers, advertising and product packaging related to the popularization of the swimming pool, and artworks from the collections of several members of the DuPont family.
